HOMEMADE SOUR CREAM
A simple cultured sour cream made right on the countertop

This easy homemade sour cream uses just half-and-half and a pinch of Flora Danica culture. Let it sit at room temperature until thick, then chill and use anywhere you would use sour cream.

Pour the half-and-half into a clean 1-pint mason jar

Add a pinch of Flora Danica culture

Stir gently to combine

Close the jar with a lid

Leave the jar on the countertop at room temperature until the mixture thickens, usually 1-2 days

Once thickened to your liking, transfer to the refrigerator and chill before using
NOTES
Use a clean jar and utensils. The exact thickening time depends on room temperature. Once cultured and chilled, store in the refrigerator and use as you would regular sour cream.
